Warning: Do not update Injustice 2 on your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One right now. Hopefully you see this message before it’s too late, and hopefully you don’t have your consoles set to automatic updates. The latest Injustice 2 update will delete all of your gear for every character; all of your gear, and all of your shaders.

What happened?

Late last night, several players started flooding Reddit, Twitter, and NeoGAF to report that all of their gear was missing. Pretty soon it became clear that the update was to blame. At first it was widely reported on PS4, since that’s where (we assume) most players are playing, but it has since been confirmed that players on Xbox have lost their gear as well.

When we say gear is gone, we mean all of it. All of your legendary gear, all of the epic gear, common gear, and shaders. They’ve all disappeared for every character whether they’re level 1 or level 20. Motherboxes also seem to have disappeared.

Is your gear gone for good, or is there some way to get it back? NetherRealm is chiming in.

NetherRealm Studios Responds

NetherRealm Studios is aware of the situation, though it still hasn’t arrived at a solution. Its first response was over 20 hours ago on Twitter, where they said, “To our players – we’re aware of the issues with Gear and are currently investigating. Thank you for your patience!”

They followed up a couple of hours ago, saying, “Gear issues are still being investigated and we hope to have an update soon. Apologies for the confusion and thank you for your patience!

A huge portion of the Injustice 2 player-base is likely in a furious panic at the moment, since the more hardcore among them very likely poured in dozens of hours of grinding in order to unlock legendary gear for the favorite heroes or villains. Considering the recent addition of legendary gear, this hiccup could not have come at a worse time.

If you guys are experiencing any issues, just sit tight. NetherRealm Studios is one of the best, most community-friendly developers out there, and we have no doubt that they’ll find a way to make things right. In the meantime, let us know if you’ve been experiencing issues.

Did you lose your gear?
