Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one of 2025’s best games. And recently, developer Warhorse Studios added to the RPG experience with the release of the new Legacy of the Forge DLC, which expands the open-world game, but according to some fans who are still playing the RPG sequel many months after its launch, it doesn’t improve it much.

The new Legacy of the Forge DLC was released on September 9, priced at $13.99. In it, Henry is tasked with acquiring and repairing a legendary burnt-down forge his father once apprenticed at after returning to Kuttenberg. As a premise, the DLC sounds quite unique, but perhaps Warhorse Studios should have stuck with something more traditional, because KCD2 fans have not been that receptive to it. To this end, the DLC only has a “Mixed” and 68% approval rating on Steam. Meanwhile, over on the series’ Reddit page, one of the top posts slams it as “pointless.”
“Simply Baffling”
“Smithing at the DLC forge is pointless,” reads the post in question. “During blacksmith commissions, you’re basically dependent on other blacksmiths for materials since the shops at the forge don’t sell all of the required materials, so it’s just faster to smith at the nearest forge to the shops that do. Customers don’t even wait at the forge for their item; Henry is the only blacksmith who wanders around town to deliver his goods. They could’ve given it some incentive besides the โsentimentโ, an ability to automatically pull materials from a personal chest or something. Sorry if this looks like doomposting, but it’s simply baffling to me that they did not think of this while developing the DLC.
As noted, the post is one of the top posts on the series’ Reddit page right now, suggesting there is something to the sentiment expressed. Meanwhile, while some of the comments offer pushback, most echo the claim.
“Unfortunately, I completely agree. The process of figuring that out was bummer after bummer,” reads one of the top comments.
Another comment adds: “I just absolutely hate not being able to send my apprentice to deliver what I forge. Iโm a blacksmith, either wait til itโs done or have a lad deliver it, Iโm not running to Raborsch to deliver you a work axe.”
The good news for both Warhorse Studios and players of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is that the various issues with the DLC can be fixed with some quality-of-life improvements in a future update. The former has yet to promise that; however, the first game was meticulously supported, and so the sequel has been as well. As a result, you would expect some of this to be addressed and reworked. Meanwhile, if the next game expands on this smithing content, hopefully, it will take this feedback on board from the jump. That said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation over on the ComicBook Forum.
