Toy Story

As mentioned, Square Enix revealed Kingdom Hearts will finally meet the world of Pixar in the beautiful new Toy Story World. It seems the humans, including Andy, have gone missing, and (of course) Organization XIII is to blame. Sora and Woody decide to team up for a bit of adventure, battling through Andy’s room, front yard, and the ominous Galaxy Toys. It looks like Toy Story World will pack in pretty much everything a Pixar fan could want.

Mt. Olympus from Hercules

This is probably the stage we’ve seen the most, as its been featured in a majority of the Kingdom Hearts III‘s trailers. Fans almost got sick of seeing Mt. Olympus. The World will include plenty of the usual Heartless bashing, and a battle against a giant rock titan. Kingdom Hearts III‘s E3 2017 trailer also hinted Hades will have something to do with the plot, although he won’t be one of the main villains.

Kingdom of Corona from Tangled

Surprisingly, the somewhat forgotten 2010 CGI film Tangled will be the basis for a Kingdom Hearts III World. In fact, this was the first Disney-themed World to be revealed. According to series creator Tetsuya Nomura, the main reason Tangled was chosen was because the developers thought Rapunzel would be a good characterย โ€“ “Rapunzel has her strong personality, as well as her hair, which she can even use it for attacks, and that was just so appealing.”

San Fransokyo from Big Hero 6

At the last D23 Expo in 2015, Square Enix announced the then-new world of Big Hero 6 would be coming to Kingdom Hearts III. The movie’s producer, Ray Conli, seemed pretty excited about the team up, and promised KHIII would continue the Big Hero 6 story โ€“ “The themes in Kingdom Hearts and Big Hero 6 match very well. For instance, there’s friendship, really important to both stories, and then of course light over darkness.”

Twilight Town and Mysterious Tower

In addition to the Disney-themed Worlds, we’ve seen the return of a couple Kingdom Hearts-specific Worlds. These include Twilight Town, the home of the Nobodies and Sora’s dark counterpart Roxas, and the Mysterious Tower, where the Keyblade master Yen Sid lives.

What other Worlds can we expect for Kingdom Hearts III? Given what’s been revealed so far, it’s difficult-to-impossible to predict. Toy Story is an obvious choice, but Hercules, Tangled, and Big Hero 6 aren’t exactly Disney’s biggest or most-beloved properties. Could we see another recent Disney movie, like Frozen or Moana join the fun? Or will Square Enix and Disney pull the trigger and do a Kingdom Hearts/Star Wars crossover?

Kingdom Hearts III is scheduled to hit the Xbox One and PS4 sometime in 2018. You can check out WWG’s latest coverage of the game, right here.
