The patch notes for League of Legends upcoming Patch 7.20 have been released, an update that includes the reworked version of Evelynn and some lighter balance changes.

Compared to the previous patches, League players won't see quite as many changes for their favorite champions, but that'll change pretty soon. Patch 7.20 could easily be considered the calm before the storm, a patch that will be followed soon by the new Runes Reforged system and a massive wave of balance adjustments for every single champion.

But those changes will come later, and until they come, here's what players can expect to see in the upcoming patch that's scheduled to release on Wednesday.

Emotes

The new emotes are set to be released with Patch 7.20, a new system that may prove to be a fun or frustrating addition depending on how you feel about them.

To start their collection, everyone will receive a "Thumbs Up" emote. Riot's asking players to "emote responsibly," but if that your teammates don't feel the same way, you can always just mute their emotes, as explained in the patch notes below:

Collection

  • CHANGE YOUR LOADOUT :: Equip your emotes to your emote wheel in the Collections tab. The emote wheel has five slots, with two extra slots for emotes that will automatically flash at the start of the game and at the end of a win.

Emoting

  • LET 'EM KNOW :: Use the emote wheel in game (bound to T by default)
  • YOU ARE NOW ON MY IGNORE LIST :: "Mute Enemy Emotes" option added to the menu. You can also mute individual player's emotes in game using the scoreboard.
  • MASTERY MUTING :: Champion Mastery emoting is becoming part of the emotes system, so muting emotes will also mute mastery emotes. Mastery emotes will also follow the spamming/breaking rules of emotes.

Store

  • YOU'VE EARNED IT :: Everyone gets the Thumbs Up emote!
  • GET ALL THE FEELS :: Expand your collection by purchasing emotes from the store's Emotes tab. There will be 25 emotes available at launch, but we'll be continually adding more.

Evelynn

Evelynn and her new title, Agony's Embrace, will be updated with the release of Patch 7.20, so expect to see Evelynn a lot more – or not see her, if the player knows what they're doing.

If you were more fond of Evelynn's old title, the Widowmaker, you'll be happy to see that the name is still there, it's just been moved to her ultimate. You can catch up on Evelynn's updated abilities below and by watching the recent champion spotlight video that was recently posted.

Passive: Demon Shade

  • After avoiding combat for a few seconds, Evelynn is enveloped by Demon Shade. If Evelynn's health is low, she'll recover it quickly while this ability is active. Starting at level 6, Demon Shadealso grants camouflage—this makes Evelynn hidden from view to all except nearby enemy champions, control wards, and turrets

Q: Hate Spike

  • Evelynn lashes out in a target direction, dealing damage to the first unit hit. If the lash strikes a target, Evelynn's next three spells or attacks on that target will deal additional damage. If the struck target is a monster, a significant chunk of Hate Spike'scooldown will be refunded.
  • After the initial cast, Evelynn can recast Hate Spikeup to three times to fire a line of spikes through the nearest enemy. The spikes deal damage to all enemies hit. Hate Spike prioritizes the enemy Evelynn is attacking.

W: Lust Dust

  • Evelynn briefly curses a target champion or monster, briefly revealing her location to her target. Hitting the cursed target with basic attacks or Eve's other spells will expunge the curse, refunding Lust Dust's mana cost and significantly slowing the target.
  • If the curse lasts for at least a couple of seconds, expunging it will charm the target. If the target is an enemy champion, their magic resistance will be reduced for a few seconds. If the target is a monster, the length of the charm will be increased and the spell will deal bonus damage.
  • Casting Lust Dustdoes not break Demon Shade's camouflage.

E: Whiplash

  • Whiplash-Evelynn impales an enemy with her lashers, applying on-hit effects and dealing damage as a percentage of the target's maximum health. Evelynn is then granted a short burst of movement speed.
  • Entering Demon Shadeupgrades Evelynn's next Whiplash into Empowered Whiplash.
  • EmpoweredWhiplash -Evelynn pulls herself to her target before impaling them, then deals Whiplash's effects to her target and all nearby enemies.

R: Widowmaker

  • Evelynn unleashes her demonic energy, becoming untargetable and decimating enemies in front of her. She then warps backwards. This ability deals bonus damage to low-health enemies.

  • Passive - Blaze
    • [NEW] KINDLING :: Brand gains 6/8/10/12/14/16/18 mana (at levels 1/3/6/9/12/15/18) when he kills a unit afflicted by Blaze. (If Brand's abilities instantly kill a unit before Blaze is applied, he doesn't get mana back.)

Graves

  • Base stats
    • HEALTH REGEN :: 1.34 (6.67 per 5) >>> 1.6 (8 per 5)
  • Q - End of the Line
    • FIRST SHOT :: 0.8 bonus attack damage >>> 1.0 bonus attack damage

Karma

  • Passive - Gathering Fire

For those who missed the mid-patch changes for Janna, the support received several nerfs after Patch 7.19 rolled out that toned down the champ's dominance in the bot lane. If you've been wondering why your Janna felt a bit weaker all patch after the first day, the patch notes for 7.20 also recapped the changes seen below in case you missed them:

Miscellaneous Changes

In the previous patch, there was some talk about changing the way that spell shields work in order to cause them to operate as intended. Previously, spell shields had a chance to block more than one ability if the attacks hit the shield at the same time, and Patch 7.20 includes a followup to the recent changes as well as other tweaks for channels and a stony jungle camp:

  • Krugs
    • ROCK POLISH :: Smoothed out Krugs' splitting animation
  • Spell Shields
    • Followup to last patch's switchover to our new spell shield code.
  • BUGFIXES :: Fixed a group of identical bugs where some channeled abilities (ex. Anivia's R - Glacial Storm) were being interrupted through spell shields

  • Charity Voting Hub
    • Vote for your preferred charity in the "Vote for charity" client tab.
    • We're raising money for three global charities (and the Worlds prize pool) with sales of Championship Ashe and the the 2017 Championship ward skin. Hop in client and vote for your preferred cause. The winner gets 50% of the charity pool and the other two split the remainder. Your vote is weighted by your Honor level!

Champion Select and Item Sets

  • Champion Select
    • SIMULTANEOUS DRAFT PICK :: Two players on the same team can pick at the same time if they'd normally pick consecutively
  • Item Set Sharing
    • Item sets can now be imported and exported.
    • Basically what the header says. Honestly speaking, y'all will find more ways to use item set sharing than we could list here, so go crazy and let us know what works!
  • Exporting
    • THIS OR THAT :: Clicking the export button lets you choose between "Copy to clipboard" and "Export to file"
    • MASS PRODUCTION :: Mass-export item sets via the Items tab by ticking the checkbox next to as many item sets as you'd like. "Copy to clipboard" copies data for all selected item sets, and "Export to file" creates a single file containing all selected item sets.
    • COMING IN HOT :: Individual item sets can also be exported via the item set editor screen
    • WHO PUTS ZHONYA'S ON 4?! :: Preferred item slot assignments aren't saved when exporting item sets
  • Importing
    • THAT OR THIS :: Clicking the import button on the Items tab lets you choose between "Paste copied set" and "Select a file"
    • EAT PASTE :: "Paste copied set" opens a small text box next to the Import button. Item sets import automatically as soon as you paste in your data.
    • NOT MALWARE :: Clicking "Select a file" opens your computer's file browser. Don't get spooked!

Rotating Game Mode and ARAM Battle Boosts

  • Rotating Game Mode
    • Dark Star: Singularity runs from 10/13/17 at 12:00 p.m. PT to 10/17/17 at 4:00 a.m. PT and 10/20/17 at 12:00 p.m. PT to 10/24/17 at 4:00 a.m. PT. Play as Dark Star Thresh in a 3v3 match on the Cosmic Ruins, which features a Dark Star Thresh announcer and chilling music.
    • Hook or Flay opposing players and Abyss Scuttlers into the black hole in the center of the map to gain points.
    • You'll fly further the more damage you've taken, but you can't die from health loss.
    • The first team to 100 points wins the round, and the first team to win two rounds wins the game.
  • ARAM Battle Boosts
    • Battle boosts will be temporarily unavailable while we work on some backend adjustments to ARAM. We'll turn these back on a few patches from now.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed an issue where ability SFX would sometimes endlessly loop when a character comes out of fog of war. (Looking at you, Corki!)
  • Riven's Q - Broken Wings can no longer both pop a spell shield and deal damage in specific circumstances
  • Fixed a bug causing Cho'Gath's R - Feast meal tracker to count jungle monsters oddly
  • The Tribute passive on Frost Queen's Claim no longer interacts oddly with turrets
  • Zyra's R - Stranglethorns tooltip now displays the correct damage bonus for plants empowered by Stranglethorns
  • Caitlyn's Q - Piltover Peacemaker rank-up tooltip now properly lists the total attack damage ratio increase between ranks
  • Fixed a few inaccurate or broken announcer text and VO lines that appeared while watching a replay
  • Eternal Sword Yi's Q - Alpha Strike SFX are no longer audible when he is hit during W - Meditate
  • Primetime Draven's idle SFX are no longer audible during his recall animation
  • Creator Viktor is no longer missing SFX for his joke, taunt, and dance emotes
