Those who follow the lore in League of Legends might be familiar with one of the more gruesome tales to emerge from the League vaults, the story of how the grotesque Urgot came to be and why he's fueled by hatred for Demacian champions. But according to the brief teaser that was posted inside of Urgot's recent champion reveal alongside his new abilities and his gameplay, it looks like the hunter has new targets as he operates as an outcast to take down his foes, ones that might bring about a new VS mission similar to the one that just ended.
Within his old lore, Urgot was a Noxian through and through who was amplified by Zaunite technology. Prone to head-on confrontation and reckless charges into enemy lines — a part of his lore that thankfully appears to be kept and even amplified in his Newgot version — Urgot suffered some crazy wounds during his battles and was semi-retired as the High Executioner of Noxus, a shell of his previous self that had blades grafted to his arms in order to execute enemies.
After travelling with the Noxian forces and ambushing Jarvan IV's division, Urgot prepared to execute the Demacian leader but was stopped when Garen intervened and sliced the battered Noxian in two. Urgot was reanimated and mechanized, brought back to life with a desire for revenge against Jarvan and Garen.
But in his new lore, Urgot finds himself betrayed by Swain, cast into the mines of Zaun where he discovered a new love for pain and suffering that he embraces from his old lore. He still becomes mechanized, though the details of that are unknown at this time, but he's turned his hatred towards the Noxian leaders instead.
"He seeks to destroy the leaders of Zaun, and preaches to those who survive: there are no rulers, only survivors," a truly metal quote from his lore teaser reads.
So what does this mean for the new Urgot's release? It means that we could very well see another VS mission based on the struggle between him and his new enemies.
While Swain is indeed the leader of Noxus and hasn't seen much love in gameplay lately, there are other leaders and allies of Swain, such as Darius, that could make an appearance in the VS event and new missions. Many of these enemies would also fit into Urgot's top lane mold, making it even easier to have Urgot and his enemies go head-to-head. Sion, another reanimated Noxian warrior, might also be on Team Reanimated for the sake of expanding the teams.
There's no telling what the potential rewards for this possible VS event could be, but it looks like it would be a superb time to sell some Urgot skins and bring the Dreadnought back to life once again.
