Super Mario Odyssey is just a few weeks away from release on the Nintendo Switch, and today, the European retailer GAME posted a new gameplay video that gives you a pretty good idea of what you can do around New Donk City.

The city is loaded with a number of citizens that can provide advice to Mario as he runs around, such as noting that this is where they train, or even offering a quick round of jump rope (which is likely to land you some bonus codes, we reckon). But there are also some things that you can throw Cappy on that will enable you to partake in additional activities.

For instance, during one segment, Mario throws his hat onto a nearby man in a suit, who then turns around and takes control of a remote control vehicle in an enclosed maze. It appears that here, you can actually pick up a bonus item that's awaiting at the other end of the maze. The video doesn't quite reveal what this bonus is, but it gives you an idea of the side missions available in the game.

On top of that, Cappy can also be used to give Mario some additional abilities in the game. He can travel across electrical wires by turning into a current (with a cap on its head!), and can also spring against certain poles in the stage that catapult him to higher points. He can also throw it onto fire hydrants to turn them on or off, or even a rocket to transport him to a bonus level within the game. It seems that Cappy is loaded with all kinds of possibilities through the city.

And, of course, it wouldn't be a gameplay demo unless Mario climbed up the tallest tower in New Donk City and then dove off. Because why not?

The gameplay clip is a bit on the lengthy side, coming in at five minutes, but it shows just how great the game is looking at this point. And we'll be able to venture through it soon enough, as Super Mario Odyssey will release on October 27th for Nintendo Switch. Currently, Amazon Prime members can save 20% when they pre-order.
