A new report has revealed that PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting a major, AAA horror game for free in the month of October 2025. Currently, Sony hasn’t announced which games will be heading to PS Plus in October, although this could change later today as the company has a new State of Play presentation taking place. Now, in advance of that broadcast kicking off, it seems that one reveal from the show may have come about a bit early.

Coming by way of Dealabs, it has been said that Alan Wake 2 will join PlayStation Plus as one of the monthly free games for October 2025. Alan Wake 2 is going to be one of three presumed additions to PS Plus next month, but it is said to be the “flagship” offering of October. Assuming that info is true, which it most likely is given Dealabs’ track record, Alan Wake 2 should then be downloadable for PS Plus members from October 7th until November 4th.
Do Not Sleep On Alan Wake 2

Released in 2023, Alan Wake 2 comes from developer Remedy Entertainment. It’s the sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake, but also takes place after the events of Control, with which it shares the same universe. Alan Wake 2 is one of the most acclaimed games of 2023 and sits at an impressive 89/100 aggregate score on Metacritic. It went on to win numerous Game of the Year awards as well.
Compared to its predecessor, Alan Wake 2 also leans further into its horror qualities. The game is a survival-horror experience through and through and features plenty of jump scares to go along with a foreboding atmosphere. It’s arguably the best horror game of the past five years and is perfect for those who love Resident Evil and Silent Hill titles.
In short, Alan Wake 2 is a must-play. Even if you haven’t played the original Alan Wake or Control, Alan Wake 2 is still accessible enough for newcomers and is worth giving a shot, especially since it will be available for “free”. This is arguably one of the best games to hit PS Plus in the entirety of 2025 and looks to end PlayStation’s subscription service on a strong note to close out the year.
