Few Pokemon capture the imagination and love that Eevee and its evolutions have. Since Generation 1, Eevee has been a fan-favorite and has received numerous new evolutions. However, there has not been a new Eevee evolution since Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, meaning Eevee fans haven’t seen a new type evolution in over a decade. With Pokemon Legends: Z-A returning to Kalos, it seems the perfect time to revisit this incredibly popular Pokemon. Not only that, but 2025 has been deemed the Year of Eevee, and announcing new Eeveelutions for Pokemon’s Generation 10 would be the perfect way to end the year.

Currently, Eevee has eight evolutions, meaning there are still 10 potential types to choose from for new Eeveelutions. Since previous games have primarily added two new Eeveelutions, it would be fitting for Generation 10 to follow suit. Of these possible types, here are the six types Game Freak and The Pokemon Company need to make Eevee evolutions for.
1) Dragon-type Eeveelution

Dragon is probably the most requested type evolution for Eevee, and would be a great way to draw in fans for Generation 10. At one point, this felt like an inevitability, especially after the introduction of Sylveon. But Game Freak has not given players a new Eeveelution since Generation 6, and this typing would be a great comeback and be a counterpart to Sylveon. Game Freak could take inspiration from different dragon mythologies around the world when creating its design, but a Dragon-type Eeveelution would likely become iconic instantly.
2) Bug-type Eeveelution

Bug Pokemon often get overlooked, and few people name this type as one of their favorites. But a Bug-type Eeveelution could change that. Its design should blend bug-like features with the cuteness that all of Eevee’s evolutions possess. Bug is often considered one of the worst types, even after new and stronger Pokemon have been added. An Eevee evolution with a Bug-typing could add a strong Pokemon to this type, especially with moves like Quiver Dance and U-turn. Even taking advantage of Sleep Powder with an ability like Compound Eyes could make it viable in competitive tournaments.
3) Steel-type Eeveelution

A Steel-type Eeveelution feels like a missed opportunity for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. With the focus on the future, Pokemon Violet should have introduced this evolution for Eevee. Generation 10 is a chance to rectify this and add this strong type for Eevee. With numerous natural resistances and a good match-up against Fairy-types, a Steel-type evolution could offer the tankiest Eeveelution yet. It could also be a sleek Pokemon that uses speed and power to quickly defeat foes. Either design could work for a robotic Eeveelution.
4) Ghost-type Eeveelution

Giving Eevee a Ghost-type evolution is another that feels long overdue. Game Freak could opt into different aspects of this type, utilizing lore about spirits or shadows to create a spectral form of Eevee. Ghost-types have some incredible designs, so using this type for Eevee would be an instant win. It could be a strong supporting Pokemon in competitive play, using moves like Will-o’-Wisp and Confuse Ray. It would also play into the fact that it is immune to Fighting-type moves that are super effective against Eevee.
5) Flying-type Eeveelution

A Flying-type Eeveelution opens the door for something Pokemon desperately needs: good Flying-type moves. Game Freak could introduce a feathery Eeveelution with flowing wings, taking inspiration from birds or perhaps even Falkor from The Neverending Story. It could be either a special or physical attacker and introduce a powerful Flying-type move aside from Hurricane or Brave Bird. Regardless of how it is designed, a Flying-type evolution for Eevee should be quick and agile, being able to outspeed opponents or set up Tailwind to support its team.
6) Normal-type Eeveelution

It may sound strange to wish for a Normal-type evolution for Eevee, but it would showcase the Pokemon fans’ love. Plus, it would allow Eevee to embrace its base form rather than taking on a new elemental form. A more evolved and majestic look would be appropriate, and it could take advantage of the strong Normal-type moves Eevee should be able to learn, like Hyper Voice or Extreme Speed. A Normal-type Eeveelution would be a love letter to Eevee, and the perfect way to end Year of Eevee.
