The arrival of Legendary Pokemon has caused a legendary uptick in spending in Pokemon Go. SensorTower, a mobile app analytics site, reports that Pokemon Go made over $5.8 million on July 23, the first day that Legendary Pokemon were unleashed on the masses.

That $5.8 million mark is the most Pokemon Go has made in one day since its initial launch window, when Pokemon Go made millions each day off of pure volume alone. It also eclipses Pokemon Go‘s performance during any of its monthly events, which began last October.

Of course, the Legendary Pokemon are part of a unique revenue stream only recently introduced to the games. Players have to use Raid Passes for a chance to battle and catch the Legendary Pokemon. While players receive one free Raid Pass a day, players have to purchase subsequent Raid Passes for $1 a piece. And since Articuno is only available for a few more days, some players are shelling out some serious cash to catch this rare Pokemon before its too late.

Pokemon Go‘s upsurge in spending might not stop anytime soon. The game is set to introduce two more Legendary Pokemon in the coming weeks, each of which is only available for a one-week window. There are also several more Legendary Pokemon waiting in the wings, at least one of which will probably also be added before the end of the summer.

Pokemon Go is far from dead, and it looks like it’s not going to stop making money either. As of press time, Pokemon Go was once again the top grossing app on Apple’s US App Store.
