The Pokemon Company is promoting the upcoming Pokemon anime movie with a distribution of “Ash Hat” Pikachu. These special Pikachu are each wearing one of the hats Ash has donned during his twenty years of Pokemon travels.

Six different Ash Hat Pikachu were previously announced and distributed in Japan. However, a magazine leak has revealed a seventh Pikachu that will only be available for the upcoming Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon games.
The “I Choose You” Pikachu is wearing Ash’s newest baseball cap, which debuts in the upcoming movie. This cap is a modern remake of Ash’s first hat, with the color scheme but a different style of “L” on the front.
Players in Japan can get this Pikachu by getting a special disk for the Pokemon arcade game Pokemon Ga-Ole.
So far, distributions for this Pikachu (and the other Ash Cap Pikachu) have not been announced for outside of Japan. However, they are eventually expected to make their way across the Pacific when the movie comes out in the US and Europe sometime this fall.
The “I Choose You” Pikachu is the first Pokemon that wasn’t found in the first Pokemon Sun and Moon games. Although no “new” Pokemon are expected to appear in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon, we’ll likely get several new Pokemon forms, either as new Alolan Pokemon or other new variations.
One Pokemon that’s all but confirmed to get a new form is Lycanroc, as the Pokemon Global Link’s code currently has an empty space for a future Lycanroc form.
Nintendo’s E3 Presentation begins later today, so it’s always possible (but unlikely) we’ll get more Pokemon news then.
