We know you're all getting ready to celebrate the summer in the best way possible – suntans, drinks, chilling by the pool – but don't forget to save up some money for killer deals on games, as the Steam Summer Sale might just be closer than you think.

The sale, which is held annually in the midst of summer and offers hundreds of markdowns on popular games, could already have some noted dates for this year. A Reddit user by the name of deliteplays has indicated that this year's sale will kick off on June 22nd at 9:50 AM PDT, and run through July 5th at 10:05 AM PDT. Another user by the name of Jelman21 confirmed similar dates, though the start times haven't been finalized yet.

Last year's Steam sale was held around the same time, going from June 23rd through July 4th, so it would make sense that Valve is trying to go for a similar period with this year's sale, just in time for the celebration of Independence Day. However, the company hasn't finalized dates for this year's event, so the report can be speculative at best. Like usual, it may be waiting to surprise its millions of consumers, announcing the sale just a few days before it actually happens.

Whatever the case, this year's Summer Sale promises a number of markdowns on games both old and new, so users can stock up on titles without having to take too tough an impact on their wallet – unless they buy too much, of course. Last year offered an abundant amount of deals, and this year is likely to be no exception, especially with the number of days available to stock up on certain games – so you don't have to buy them all at once, you see.

We'll have to see what Valve officially announces in the weeks ahead, but it never hurts to save up a few bucks, because you never know just when the Summer Sale will strike. And you can still make sure to save up some money for your BBQ as well. It helps to eat alongside the new games you're getting.
