We'll finally get to see our first round of Super Mario Odyssey gameplay next month at E3, Nintendo revealed today in a press release. Though we've technically seen some gameplay in the original announcement trailer, it was all pre-recorded. Next month the game will be playable on the show floor, which means we'll have plenty of raw gameplay footage to watch and analyze.

"When Nintendo's booth space opens at noon on June 13," the statement reads, "show attendees will be among some of the first people in the world to get their hands on Super Mario Odyssey, as well as other games for Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Odyssey is Mario's first sandbox-style game since Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine."

While we're sure that Nintendo will give us a new trailer and plenty of Super Mario Odyssey details during its E3 video presentation, it's significant that the game is in a state that Nintendo feels comfortable showing off on the show floor. Nintendo is notoriously guarded and secretive, and if Odyssey wasn't already looking and playing very well, we guarantee that it wouldn't be on the floor for fans to play.

This is also a pretty big deal because, Splatoon 2 and Arms excepted, Super Mario Odyssey is the next huge first-party Nintendo Switch release that is certain to move systems. Poised to launch this holiday season, Odyssey is going to be the next huge console-defining release after Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, both of which sold incredibly well, breaking records for both of their respective series.

We'll be covering Nintendo's entire E3 presence in detail. From its demos on the show floor, to the E3 Direct, to the Treehouse Live crew and everything they bring to the table. Those few days are going to be absolutely packed with content for gamers across all platforms, so stay tuned to WWG for all of the latest!
