Sony didn't just put on a wonderful press conference last night before the Electronic Entertainment Expo opened up this morning. It also introduced some new sales numbers that continue to cement its reputation as one of the best-selling console sellers in the world.

The company revealed last night that, following its previous numbers from late last year, it has now sold over 60.4 million PlayStation 4 systems worldwide. That means it's managed to sell an additional 10.4 million systems since it revealed that it had a 50 million worldwide sales point back in late 2016. That's quite impressive.

These numbers are as of June 11th, so they don't really count the sales of the new gold PlayStation 4 system that's currently available in stores for the reasonable price of $249. Following these sales, we wouldn't be surprised if that number rose even higher.

On top of that, the publisher also revealed that it has managed to sell more than 487.8 million games for the console, both digitally and physically. As far as what the leading seller is right now, it's none other than Guerrilla Games' amazing Horizon: Zero Dawn, which will soon be getting a DLC expansion, sometime over the next few months.

Sony also noted that there are over 70 million active users on the PlayStation Network on a monthly basis, and users spend approximately over 600 hours per week playing games on the console, as of March 2017. Those numbers may have gone up with the release of Horizon: Zero Dawn becoming wider across its audience.

"We are very grateful for our fans and partners around the globe who have continued to support PS4," said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. "The PS4 platform is in its prime, with the industry's best lineup of exclusive and partner titles slated to release this year, taking full advantage of the power of the PS4 system. We are committed to further expanding our overall PS4 ecosystem, by broadening the PlayStation®VR content portfolio, as well as enriching our network services along with our ground-breaking software lineup. We remain steadfast in bringing the best entertainment experience to users worldwide and making PS4 the best place to play."

And that momentum isn't likely to slow down at all, with killer games like Spider-Man, God of War and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy on the way. That's not even counting all the AAA and indie games coming to the system with exclusive content.

Congrats, Sony. You're making quite a killing on the market!
