State of Play for September 2025 Announced, Will Feature New Look at 2026 PlayStation Exclusive

As rumors had indicated, a new PlayStation State of Play for September 2025 will indeed be taking place in the coming day on September 24th. On virtually an annual basis, PlayStation holds a State of Play in September to give eager fans a look at what will be coming to PS5 to close out the year, while also teasing what’s slated for the year to come. In 2025, PlayStation won’t be deviating from this pattern as its next big look at what’s slated for PS5 is right around the corner.

Set to transpire on Wednesday, September 24th at 5pm ET/2pm PT, this new State of Play will be streamed live across YouTube and Twitch. PlayStation says that this broadcast will last roughly 35 minutes in total and will center around “new looks at anticipated third-party and indie titles, plus updates from some of our teams at PlayStation Studios”.

To that end, it has already been confirmed that Saros, the next game from developer Housemarque, will be shown off during the presentation and will get roughly five minutes of new gameplay footage. Saros is one of the only games that PlayStation has announced for 2026, which makes it one of the company’s focal points heading into next year.

What Else Should We Expect From This New State of Play?

Beyond Saros, rumors have also suggested that Insomniac Games will appear at this State of Play to provide a new look at Marvel’s Wolverine. Announced all the way back in 2021, news on Wolverine has since been nowhere to be found, which has resulted in fans continuing to wonder about its status. For it to be shown at this State of Play would likely imply that it’s bound to release in 2026 and should kickstart a larger marketing push from Sony.

Other than this, there are still a lot of other PlayStation games on the horizon that have yet to be shown off. Naughty Dog continues to work on its new IP Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but this project seems bound for 2027 or beyond, which means it’s unlikely to appear at this showing. Developer Haven is also still working on its multiplayer live-service title Fairgames, although work on it seems to have been struggling internally.

Regardless of what else is revealed at this State of Play, it should be a pretty major event from PlayStation that will come with plenty of surprises. If you want to stay in the loop with everything announced at the showcase, be sure to continue following our coverage here on ComicBook in the coming day.
