Steam appears to have gone down ahead of Christmas. For those who were looking to get some gaming in during holiday break, Steam has thrown a wrench into those plans. Steam appears to be down on Christmas Eve, per reports from DownDetector and users on social media. Users are able to launch games and should be able to play them, though they were slow to launch when I tried to boot up some. However, you may have issues using other parts of the platform. The Steam Store is down, meaning players can’t take advantage of Steam’s holiday sale which has a ton of great deals right now until January 5th.

Similarly, loading other pages in the Steam app such as profiles of other users, group pages, and more will endless load or error out. The app has gone back and forth today, with it going down earlier in the morning, before returning to normal. However, it appears to be back down once again. Valve has yet to address the issue, but we will update this article when there is more to share.
