Action-adventure PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade released in April 2024, with a PC port ushering in new fans this summer. The RPG features hack and slash, Souls-like gameplay in a post-apocalyptic world. Since arriving on Steam, it has achieved that coveted Overwhelmingly Positive review range. Though the game is over a year old, ShiftUp and PlayStation have kept players engaged with new crossover DLC with games like Goddess of Victory: Nikke. Now, the game’s latest major update looks like it’s setting us up for the rumored Stellar Blade sequel.

Earlier this year, a leaked ShiftUp document suggested that a Stellar Blade sequel might be in the works. This intel suggested both a platform expansion (likely to Switch 2) and a sequel in the works. Earlier this month, ShiftUp finally confirmed that a sequel is indeed in active development. And with the latest Stellar Blade update, the developer has begun laying the groundwork for that sequel with 3 new epilogues that expand the story. Though the epilogues themselves don’t add a ton of new content, fans are nevertheless impressed to see more new additions to the game… with a few caveats.
New Stellar Blade Epilogues Could Set Up a Sequel, But Fans Are Demanding Easier Access
The latest patch for Stellar Blade arrived on September 29th for PC and PS5. Though it included some bug fixes and Photo Mode adjustments, the highlight was the addition of 3 new epilogues “following a specific ending.” While fans are thrilled to see new story content for Stellar Blade, not everyone is happy about the vague nature of the patch notes.
Since the patch notes were released, players have been debating which ending will trigger the new epilogue content. Some players have already noted that certain endings don’t appear to trigger the new story content. Because the game has 3 different endings, getting all of the possible roads already requires several playthroughs before this extra story drop was added. This latest update, therefore, has fans begging for a Chapter Select option to let them easily access the new story content without needing to complete yet another Stellar Blade playthrough.
Although not everyone has managed to unlock the new epilogues, those who have seen them note that the extra story content doesn’t add too much. It’s mainly just a few new interactions between characters. Even so, tagging some additional teasers on the end is a pretty clear setup for the recently confirmed Stellar Blade sequel that’s in the works. The epilogues might even hint at who will feature in the next game. Though some fans are headed to YouTube to see what’s new rather than doing another playthrough, many more are thrilled for another excuse to dive back into Stellar Blade while we wait for the sequel.
Though we don’t have a confirmed release date for Stellar Blade 2 just yet, it’s likely the sequel will arrive before 2027. So, fans won’t have too long to wait, and it looks like ShiftUp plans to keep us busy enough until then.
