The Super Mario Odyssey marketing train has left the station, and Nintendo is shining a brilliant spotlight on what promises to be the most ambitious Super Mario game since Super Mario 64. Last night Nintendo launched a brand new live action musical trailer starring Mario himself, along with Pauline, Mario’s original damsel in distress who has evolved to become the mayor of New Donk City! If you were watching that trailer and found yourself trying to put a finger on Pauline’s voice, you’re not the only one! Pauline is voiced be none other than Kate Higgins, who has an impressive resume filled with games and anime series to which she has lent her talent. She is probably best known as Sakura Haruno in Naruto.
The trailer itself is a freaking spectacle, and fans can’t get enough of Jump Up, Superstar! The song was revealed for the first time at this year’s E3, and was an immediate hit. The music and lyrics evoke and sense of reckless delight and adventure — two things that the Super Mario series has been bringing fans for decades now.

Another perfect 10 out of 10. This confirms what we already knew, of course: Super Mario Odyssey has received an enormous amount of love and attention from Nintendo’s flagship first-party development teams for years now, and there is quality and inspiration shining through every frame.
We don’t have long to wait now. Super Mario Odyssey launches on Nintendo Switch on October 27, and we’ll have our own review ready for you soon. Stay tuned!
