The Xbox One backward compatibility program already saw some action earlier this week, when the racing game F1 2014 and the bug-squashing action game Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon got added on. But today, Microsoft added another heavy hitter to the line-up – no, literally, it's a heavy-hitter.

Capcom's classic fighting game Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is now available for play on the console, joining the previously released Street Fighter IV and bringing the total count of playable Xbox 360 games on the system to just under 400.

The game features the full cast from the previously released Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV, along with Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu and Oni Akuma. In addition, earlier members of the crew have also been rebalanced, so you can kick butt and take names with a number of superstars.

Now, just as a word of caution, this does not include Ultra Street Fighter IV. That game is still not backwards compatible – at least, not yet. For that matter, just Super Street Fighter IV is also not backwards compatible. At the moment, only Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition are.

That said, Arcade Edition is easily one of our favorite beat-em-ups in the series, with a well-rounded cast, good online play, and a number of options for you and your friends to take advantage of. Plus, pitting Oni Akuma against Evil Ryu is the stuff that dreams are made of, especially when it comes to seeing two powerhouses go at it.

This release makes us hope that we'll see older Street Fighter games join the Xbox One line-up at some point, including Street Fighter III: Third Strike Arcade Edition, as well as Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and possibly even the game that started it all, the original Street Fighter II, which released way back in 2006.

More than likely, Capcom approved the game in time for this weekend's EVO tournament, which will bring together the best fighting competitors in the world in the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. We'll keep you updated on what all Capcom is doing at the show.
