Tekken 7 has been kicking ass and taking names since its debut on the fighting market last month, and it's continuing to do so with a bevy of DLC, including the introduction of Geese Howard from various SNK franchises, including Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters. But during San Diego Comic-Con this week, it took a unique new direction when it came to introducing new fighting costumes for the game.

During its Comic-Con panel yesterday, the team announced a new artist collaboration series for the game, which in turn will lead to forthcoming downloadable content, in the form of skins that will be made available for certain characters. As you can see from the image above, there are a number of unique art styles that are being applied to these characters, and that can make things very interesting when it comes to giving your character a new outfit.

A number of artists are contributing to the project, including Mexican-American cartoon and graffiti artist Mister Cartoon; San Francisco street artists and graphic designer Jeremy Fish, and American artist Ron English. Others are being enlisted as well, including Sam Flores, Scotch79 and Hydro74. And something tells us that Bandai Namco isn't done recruiting artists just yet.

It'll be interesting to see how these art styles translate into character skins in the game, but it's really incredible when it comes to fan service, giving Tekken 7 players the opportunity to make their characters look more unique than ever before – even while delivering a thunderous combo or a throw technique that could send an opponent flying across the ring. The more wacky and wild art styles we have in this game, the better. (After all, Tekken 7 already has a number of crazy add-ons for your character – including a pizza backpack.)

The DLC is set to arrive sometime this September, though a specific release date hasn't been given yet. We'll let you know when Bandai Namco announces something, but, yeah, this is definitely good news for you Tekken 7 fans that have been looking to "mix things up" – but without crippling your wallet, obviously.

Tekken 7 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
