Today's Xbox Gamescom press conference may not be overwhelming with news, but there have been some interesting factoids revealed about the system – including the ability to transfer over games from your old Xbox One hardware to the new Xbox One X with ease.

During the conference, the team explained how easy the transfer process will be for the consoles, whether you're transferring a large library of games, or just a few titles and your system settings.

First off, with external storage devices, you'll be able to carry over games to them with ease, as well as saving your profile, so you can transfer, unplug the device, take it to the new system, plug it in and get to playing.

On top of that, you'll also be able to transfer over existing Xbox One games to the new system with the assistance of your home network. That means you'll be able to transfer over games without having to re-download them through the Internet – which can be a massive undertaking considering the size of some of these games.

As for prepping titles that are already confirmed to run in 4K on the Xbox One X, you can actually download 4K patches for the games ahead of time, so that when you have the games set up on your new system, you'll actually be all set to go to play them on the highest visual fidelity.

The team describes it as an easy process, but that has yet to really be seen, as the Xbox network will likely be slammed with downloads when the console launches on November 7th. So whether the process will be that smooth…it's hard to call. But fingers crossed that Microsoft can get it figured out so that we'll be able to get right to our new console without having to wait for hours on end for everything to get put in place.

We'll let you know once the console officially ships and walk through the process. In the meantime, be sure to check out our additional coverage from the Xbox Gamescom presentation, including a number of new announcements!
