The Xbox One’s Huge Fall Update Is Now Available

The Fall Update for the Xbox One has begun rolling out for console owners as of Monday, an update that introduces tons of changes and allows players to prepare for the 4K power of the Xbox One X.

Back in August, the Fall Update for the Xbox One had several features previewed that included a selection of new settings, some of them smaller, quality-of-life changes and others more sizable additions to the console. One of the biggest advantages that Xbox fans can look forward to with the update is the ability to download 4K assets if you’re planning on investing in the Xbox One X.

The Big Changes

Some of the first changes deal with the home screen, the dashboard that players launch their apps from. Several personalization improvements have been made to allow for players to have more control over their settings, and dark, light, and high-contrast settings options help set the stage for whatever kind of gaming mood you’re in.

The Xbox One’s Guide also has been changed to structure information in a different manner. You can thumb through horizontal tabs in an easier, more manageable Guide that now quickly shows you when friends are playing the same game and displays information about tournaments that you might be interested in.

When you’re not by your console, several updates have also been made to keep you up to speed on notifications that might’ve come in while you were away. Summaries of information and quick-and-easy community feeds have been improved, so you’ll never miss a beat when you have to step away for a moment.

4K Gaming and the Xbox One X

One of the most significant parts of the update is the chance that Xbox owners now have to download 4K assets ahead of the Xbox One X’s release.

Some games will already have 4K content readily available for players to download and transfer so that they can be ready when the Xbox one X releases on Nov. 7. Players are also being encouraged to go ahead and transfer their games over to an external hard drive if need be so that they can easily make the transition to 4K gaming when the time comes.
