Nintendo's had a pretty loaded slate for this holiday season thus far, between both Fire Emblem Warriors and Super Mario Odyssey coming in October, and other announced titles coming this holiday season. But the big one that a lot of fans are watching out for is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which promises to continue Monolithsoft's epic role-playing adventure series in style. Thankfully, we now know when it's coming.

The company has confirmed that the release date for the forthcoming Nintendo Switch sequel is December 1st, and the game will sell for $59.99. Just in time for the holidays! There will also be a special edition coming too, with a soundtrack CD and other bonus goodies!

"Explore an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilization live on the backs of colossal beasts called Titans. Experience the story of Rex and his new friend, Pyra, a mysterious being known as a Blade who grants him tremendous power. Together, search for Pyra's long lost home Elysium, the ultimate paradise for all of humanity," the game's product description page reads.

Here's some of the features, in case you missed them the first time around:

  • Explore colossal beasts called Titans, the homes of different civilizations, offering expansive regions to discover.
  • Form powerful bonds with Blades, unique beings granting tremendous power to their users, called Drivers.
  • Features a deep battle system that builds on triumphs of the Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X

Adventure fans have been quite content with the Xenoblade Chronicles saga over the past few years, with the original Wii version being a surprise hit, followed by the Xenoblade Chronicles X port for the Nintendo Wii U, as well as the New Nintendo 3DS, where the game has managed to grow its audience.

No doubt the Nintendo Switch sequel will continue the growing success of the series, as we follow in the footsteps of familiar characters and meet new ones, while completing a variety of missions and finding a number of new surprises – just in the Xenoblade Chronicles way.

It never hurts to get a pre-order for the game in early, although you can also get it on the eShop, if you prefer the digital route. Don't miss out on it this December!

We'll be posting the game trailer and other details shortly!
