These Sleeping Godzilla Kaiju Funko Pops Are Too Cute To Handle

You may recall that Funko first released a sleeping Godzilla Pop figures as part of the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire line back in 2024, and it was insanely popular. Not one to miss out on a trend, Funko is back with three new Super-Sized installments, and they’re cuter than ever. What’s more, there are two Godzilla-themed Pops in the wave that are wide awake and very exclusive.

The new lineup includes Ghidorah, Space Godzilla, and Godzilla, all fast asleep as Super-Sized 6-Inch Funko Pops. Based on the movie Son of Godzilla, the Godzilla Sleeping Funko includes Minilla, the adopted son of Godzilla. You’ll notice that Godzilla’s design is a bit on the cartoonish side, in keeping with the design in the film. This wave also includes the first “normal” rendition of the mighty Ghidorah, which Funko is presenting in sleeping mode and battle mode as a Super-Sized King Ghidorah GameStop exclusive. Rounding out the list is the Amazon exclusive Shin Godzilla, which is a very limited edition of only 9500 units.

These Funko releases are focused on Godzilla’s Showa Era, and fans are more than excited to get back down to the monster’s older movies. Comicbook’s own Ben Hathaway wrote up his own ranking of the Showa Era films, and while many of them are fantastic, some of them don’t reach the high expectations. Son of Godzilla, the movie where Manilla was introduced, only made it to #12 on the list (out of 15!), but I don’t think that’s too shocking for most of the fanbase.

Hathaway writes, “It was the first time the franchise actively tried to appeal to kids over adults, and while it’s not too much like All Monsters Attack, it’s still a little cringeworthy at times. Furthermore, the scientists and their weather-controlling system is a bit too dull to retain kids’ interest, so it’s really not even all that effective of a kids’ movie. But, hey, at least Kimacuras and Kumonga are kind of neat.” Take a peak at the rest of his list right here. Maybe it’ll ignite a full Godzilla rewatch!
