Though it hasn't been released online, one of the most buzzing moments from San Diego Comic Con was the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 footage. More specifically, the biggest takeaway was Baby Groot stealing the show.

Speaking to Collider after the Marvel Studios Hall H panel on Saturday, Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige was asked how much Baby Groot remembers from his past, which includes the first installment of Guardians of the Galaxy.

"He remembers," Feige reveals. "He's not mentally a baby, he is still Groot… I sort of equate it to Spock circa the end of Search for Spock and The Voyage Home."

As for Groot's place in the sequel, Feige went further and promised some major entertainment from Groot and his cohort Rocket Raccoon.

"When it comes to a Guardians of the Galaxy film, a James Gunn script, it's not just about the funny, it's not just about the action, it's about the heart," Feige says. "And the amount of heart that you get out of this trash panda raccoon and now this little twig baby Groot is actually awe-inspiring. It is amazing what he's done with those two characters."

With Groot and Rocket as the centerpieces of the upcoming sequel, it sounds like James Gunn is lining up a swing for another home run.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5, 2017.
