Earlier this year, fans learned that Marvel TV was developing another series for cable networking. Titled Cloak & Dagger, is set to air on Freeform (a channel previously known as ABC Family). The straight-to-series order went silent after it was announced, and fans began to wonder whether things were alright behind-the-scenes. Now, those curious fans have gotten an update on the project, and it is not what they were hoping to hear.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Cloak & Dagger will be delayed until Winter 2018. However, the series now has a showrunner, Joe Pokaski, who is currently rewriting his initial script for the show.

Pokaski is no stranger to the world of superheroes. While he is serving as executive producer on WGN's Underground at the moment, Pokaski has worked on shows such as Marvel's Daredevil and NBC's Heroes.

If you are not familiar with Cloak & Dagger, then you should know the story follows a crime-fighting duo with very different background. The teens are named Tyrone Johsnon and Tandy Bowen, or Cloak and Dagger respectively. In the comic books, the two meet as runaways in New York City and gain their powers after being experimented on by a criminal organization. Dagger has the apt ability to create light daggers and heal allies while Cloak can teleport.

So far, no other writers or directors have been announced for the anticipated series. You can check out the official synopsis for Cloak & Dagger below:

"This exciting new series is an adaptation of the beloved Marvel characters aimed squarely at young adults. This live-action interracial romance follows Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart—but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging."

When Cloak & Dagger airs, it will be the third network series for Marvel. The studio has already had success with shows such as Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. Marvel also has several critically acclaimed shows on sites like Netflix. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are already available for streaming. In the future, Iron Fist and The Defenders will join the site alongside The Punisher. And, over on Hulu, Marvel TV is developing a series based on The Runaways.

Marvel's Cloak and Dagger is slated to hit television in Winter 2018.
