A lot of people thought Deadpool deserved an Academy Award or, at the very least, a nomination. Jimmy Kimmel thought so. Jake Gyllenhaal thought so. Ryan Reynolds definitely thought so. And if you’re reading this, you probably thought so too.

But who would Deadpool be if not a person who doesn’t make fun of and point out another’s short comings? And who would Deadpool be if no one did the same thing to him?

Ron Lim paid homage to the Merc with a Mouth’s spectacular Oscar snub in a truly fitting wayโ€”with a variant cover to next month’s X-Men Gold #1. The cover in question will be done in conjunction with Marvel’s X-Men launch party initiative. That means access might be limited to larger retailers who push a lot of volume, so you might have a better chance of getting this cover online but might pay a bit over cover price of $4.99.

Retailers will have to request 250% of their IVX #2 orders to be able to order the Lim Party Variant of X-Men Gold #1, but at that point they’ll be able to order as many of the variant as they want.

The comic, by artist Carlos Pacheco and writer Marc Guggenheim, will co-lead Marvel’s new X-Men initiative alongside X-Men Blue #1 by Jorge Molina and Cullen Bunn. The two will herald a new line of X-Men comics including Jean Grey, Cable, Weapon X, Generation X, and the currently running All-New Wolverine series.

Marvel has also announced a new X-title today featuring Old Man Logan and Archangel, among other unrevealed team members, that could be a new Uncanny X-Force comic.

Find out more next month when X-Men Prime goes on sale.
