EXCLUSIVE: Secret Empire #3 Marvel Preview

Things aren't looking so great for the heroes stuck on earth, but that is nothing compared to what the heroes on the other side of the shield are dealing with, as illustrated in this exclusive Secret Empire #3 preview.

Some of the most powerful Marvel heroes, like Captain Marvel, Hyperion, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, are stranded in space unable to get back to earth. That would be bad enough, but a Chitauri army keeps attacking them, spreading their already small numbers think. Issue #3 sees the Guardians attempt to enlist some help from the other sovereign races in the galaxy, including the Brood and the Shiar. If they can just get some help disabling the shield, they could get back home and help with the resistance, and Star-Lord, Rocket, and Groot are the perfect emissaries.

At least they would be in theory if earth's reputation wasn't so marred by chaos and greed. It takes a lot to say no to an adorable tree like Baby Groot, but it seems earth's bed has been made, and now it has to lie in it.

As you know, Captain America has effectively taken over the United States, putting it in Hydra control. He's managed to trap some of the most powerful heroes on the outside of earth's new protective shield. Cap also managed to encase New York City and all of its central heroes, like Doctor Strange, the Defenders, and Cloak and Dagger, in a dark dimension. What remains of the resistance has been pummeled by Hydra's forces, and is barely standing on its last legs.
