Sony's Spider-Man universe has grown considerably already with announced projects like Venom and Silver and Black, but neither of those are as quirky as an Aunt May spinoff.
Yep, you read that right. Rumors surfaced that said Sony was looking at an Aunt May spy movie. When ScreenRant asked if she would be willing she said "What? You guys know way more than I do. First of all, it took her forever to find out about Peter, so I don't know what level of spy she would be, but I would like the idea of a big magnifying glass. Did they really, did you really hear that? I'm all for it."
The Aunt May seen in Homecoming is a far cry from the ones seen in the original Spider-Man trilogy or in the Amazing Spider-Man films. This May is much younger than those versions, but even still solo spinoff might not come to mind.
If audiences react well to the character though, which some have already, well then anything is possible.
Spider-Man: Homecoming currently has a 4.14 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, and you can view the full description below.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.
