Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Found Footage Of Ghost Rider Released
Earlier today, Marvel Television and ABC released the first promotional image of Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes, in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4.
Marvel also today released the first in-universe glimpse at Ghost Rider in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 in the form of a found cell phone footage-style promotional video released via social media.
In the video, Ghost Rider's car can be seen through flames and heard peeling away. Someone can be heard exclaiming, "Oh my God! Is that him? That's him!" The video closes with the Agents of S.H.I.EL.D. logo and the fiery message, "Vengeance comes to Tuesday." The frame also displays Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s new 10 p.m. time slot.
The "Vengeance comes to Tuesday" line is a direct reference to Ghost Rider's role as the "Spirit of Vengeance" in the Marvel Universe. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 will tweak Ghost Rider's origin, so it's unclear if Ghost Rider will still be the "Spirit of Vengeance" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel and ABC still have not confirmed when Ghost Rider will debut in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4, but the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 premiere episode title that was revealed earlier today makes it sound like it will be sooner rather than later. The way the person yelling in this video seems to think of Ghost Rider as a kind of urban legend only furthers the theory that Ghost Rider may "The Ghost" in question.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 is going to see major changes for the series, and the addition of Ghost Rider and the new time slot are just two of them. With the Sokovia Accords introduce in Captain America: Civil War in place and Hydra seemingly defeated for good, S.H.I.E.L.D.is operating in public once more, helping to monitor the Inhuman population growth. This is being done under the eye of a new director, played by Jason O'Mara, who has taken over for Phil Coulson since most of the public – most notably the Avengers – believe he is still dead. Coulson has reentered the field, with Mack at his side, and is actively searching for Daisy "Quake" Johnson, who went rogue after the final battle with Hive and the death of Lincoln.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.EL.D. Season 4 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
