We still know very little about the new director. “The Ghost” let us know that he’s not well-liked by Coulson and his team and that he’s obsessed with security.
ABC and Marvel Television have released the first actual footage of the new director in Agents of SHIELD. The scene shows Agent Melinda May escorting Coulson to the director’s office at SHIELD headquarters, where Coulson expects to be reprimanded for disobeys the director’s orders to not pursue Daisy Johnson in the field.
The director, whose first name is Jeffrey (or Geoffrey), is entirely cordial and surprisingly understanding about Coulson’s actions. However, the director is concerned about public relations and “optics,” as SHIELD is about to make it’s return to the public eye as an officially sanctioned organization.
There’s also a shot of May glancing at the director after being excused from the room. She sees his eyes darken, which is an effect of the mysterious, ghostly woman who was let out of the box the Chinese mafia was trying to get its hands on in “The Ghost.”
O’Mara makes his debut in the episode appropriately titled “Meet the New Boss.” IN “Meet the New Boss,” Daisy sets out to battle Ghost Rider, but at a terrible cost; the new director’s bold agenda shocks everyone.
Marvel Television and ABC previously released another clip from “Meet the New Boss,” in which Quake catches up with and questions Ghost Rider.
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
