The agents of SHIELD are officially headed into outer space.

Marvel Television and ABC have revealed the first official poster for the fifth season of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, and it shows the SHIELD logo on the outside of what appears to be a spaceship.

Here's the poster, as revealed at Entertainment Weekly.

Agents of SHIELD Season 5

Unfortunately, there is no firm release date on the poster, only that it will air on Fridays this winter.

For those who may have forgotten, the fourth season of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD ended with the team successfully escaping the virtual world called the Framework. Unfortunately, Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) was still believed to have tried to kill Brigadier General Glenn Talbot (Adrian Pasdar), though it was actually a life model decoy (LMD), and so they knew it was only a matter of time before they'd be taken into custody.

Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team decided to enjoy a meal with what time they had left. The authorities arrived as expected, but what Coulson and his team were not expecting was that they were then frozen in some kind of stasis and carried away.

The final scene of the season showed Coulson waking up in a dark, cell-like room. He opened a viewing window to reveal that he was actually in outer space. Coulson said that it was time for him to go work just before the credits rolled.

The prevalent theory is that the organization that took Coulson and his team is the Sentient World Observation and Response Department, or SWORD, which is basically the cosmic version of SHIELD, though there is some debate over whether Marvel or Fox has the screen rights to the organization (it debuted in an X-Men comic and was previously published under the X-Men banner).

Another theory that has been suggested is that Phil Coulson could be the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of "the Man on the Wall," a position first held by Nick Fury and alter the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Comics Universe.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD will move to a new Friday night time slot for its fifth season. The new season will debut on ABC sometime after the completion of the first season of Marvel's Inhumans.
