When T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) gets his own solo film at the beginning of next year, it's going to feature one of the most star-studded casts an introductory Marvel movie has had. Joining the likes of Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave), Michael B. Jordan (Creed), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), and Forest Whitaker (Rogue One) is American Horror Story's Angela Bassett, who will play Ramona — the mother of the soon-to-be King T'Challa.

The cast members know they're part of something special, and Bassett seems to know it. In an interview with Toofab, she took the opportunity to praise those she's worked with on the movie.

"It seems like there's a vast wide audience of people who are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Black Panther at the top of the new year," Bassett said. "I had a fantastic time and no one's gonna be disappointed."

Bassett went on to share a few of the cast members she liked working with the most, also calling the movie "magnetic."

"It's a lot of strength and balance and beauty and I'm just thrilled by getting to work with Danai and Lupita and actresses and brand new faces across the diaspora, it was beautifully cast," reflected Bassett. "It's going to be quite a sight and I think it's going to be magnetic."

Although filming for Black Panther wrapped weeks ago and footage from the shoot was featured at the open house of the new Marvel Studios office just prior to the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it's a safe bet that the first trailer will be coming during Marvel's Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con later this summer.

After the events of Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, King T'Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country's new leader. However, T'Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

The film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira , Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Additional cast members include Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown, and John Kani.

Ryan Coogler directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.
