The first photo for Ant-Man and The Wasp revealed the hidden insect details packed into the titular heroes’ costumes.
As Paul Rudd‘s Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly‘s The Wasp stand side by side, a glance would simply reveal the magnificent costume work by Louise Frogley. However, looking more closely, one might discover a hidden detail in each costume. Each hero’s title is made out on their costume as their insect counterparts are fit into the designs. The Wasp’s costume features the outline of a wasp’s face while Ant-Man’s costume features the outline of an ant’s face.

The film is set to be Evangeline Lilly’s first outing as The Wasp, though she did appear in the 2016 Ant-Man movie as Hope van Dyne. Originally, she was considered for Captain America: Civil War but ultimately ruled out in favor of a more thorough and developed debut in Ant-Man and The Wasp. The film also marks the first time a female hero will be named in the title of a Marvel Studios film.
The film will also thoroughly explore the quantum realm introduced in the original Ant-Man film. “This is exciting for the future,” quantum physicist and staff researcher at the California Institute of Technology Dr. Spiros Michalakis said, having advised the science behind Marvel films. “There are different ways that some of these ideas appear on-screen in a few years. Not just for Ant-Man, but also for Captain Marvel and all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
