The first two tracks of “Awesome Mix Volume 2,” the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 were revealed Saturday at the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H and San Diego Comic-Con. When writer/director James Gunn and his cast took the stage, they brought along a full scene of footage, plus a trailer on top of it.

The scene, which focused on Yondu, Rocket, and Baby Groot breaking out of a Ravagers ship (all the while getting Yondu’s Fin – a signature part of his look in the comics – and killing a whole shipload of Ravagers), featured the first confirmed track, “Come A Little Bit Closer” by Jay and the Americans. A hit single in 1964, it’s notable, as the vast majority of the “Awesome Mix Volume 1” songs were from the 70s, making this pre-date those tracks considerably.

The second song, played during the trailer shown at the end of the panel (and started by Baby Groot plugging in the audio cables adorably), was Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.” The song, from 1977’s seminal album Rumours, it’s a song that very uniquely fits Guardians and their team. The song was actually made up of several solo attempt songs from individual members of the band – showing how even when they were working on their own, they were better together. Symbolism!

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 has wrapped principal photography and is set to release next May.
