When it comes to planning ahead, Marvel Studios is a master of multi-tasking. The studio has superhero films lined up years in advanced, giving fans something to look forward to as time passes. Surely, it won’t be long until the studio goes ahead and teases moviegoers with a few new future projects, and it looks like Hayley Atwell would love to see Agent Carter on that list.

During a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, the actress talked about the cancelation of Agent Carter and her willingness to return to the role.
Hayley revealed that she asks the co-president of Marvel Studios on the regular to ask for a movie. “I hound [Marvel Studios’ Louis] D’Esposito on a regular basis, saying, ‘Give me a movie!’” she explained.
“I think the great thing about Peggy is, we know from [Captain America: The] Winter Soldier that she lives a long life, so she can come back. I’m banking on, when I’m in my fifties, I’m like, ‘This is the time. Let’s see what Peggy’s up to in this decade.’”
There are definitely fans who’d love to see such a project. Agent Carter created a very loyal fanbase who continue to champion the show and rally for its return. Fans created online petitions and fan-projects which got more than 50,000 supporters – and new campaigns still pop up regularly.
The actress gushed about those fans and their love for Agent Carter. “It’s still a much-loved show for the people involved in the making of it, and we know that the fans, it has a special place in their hearts,” she said. “I would be very happy to go back to her if she became available.”
However, Hayley did stress that she hasn’t said goodbye to the gun-wielding, lipstick-toting role. When asked how it felt to say goodbye to Peggy, Hayley said, “I don’t fell like I’ve said goodbye to her.”
“She does still seem to live on a lot for the fans. And Marvel is still such a big part of my career, especially my professional family, that I would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point, seeing her in other avenues. I love her, and I hope that she has a life elsewhere at another time.”
She even admitted that a third season of Agent Carter very nearly happened. Hayley, who will star in Conviction this fall, said that ABC went back-and-forth about renewing the series.
“ABC said, “Well, this is not where we’re cancelling Agent Carter. This is a great new project. We really want you in the center of it. We want to see if it’s going to go.” And then, there were talks of, “Do we do an Agent Carter special? Does [Conviction] not get picked up, and Agent Carter does? Does the opposite happen? Does neither of them happen? Will I be completely, like, jobless come summer?” All of that was a possibility, and you can only really focus on what’s right in front of you.”
This isn’t the first time Hayley has said she’d like to reprise her role of Peggy following the end of Agent Carter. The actress has said she’d be happy to go back to the character and is “100%” ready to explore the rest of Peggy’s story.
If you haven’t seen Agent Carter, then you can catch-up on the first two seasons through home video or digital distribution sites.
