How does that old saying go? Third time’s a charm? Marvel seems to have struck gold with their third iteration of Spider-Man, as fans and critics both adored Tom Holland‘s portrayal of the character in Captain America: Civil War.

This July, Holland will be getting his own solo outing as the character, in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The trailers for the new film have been well-received, and fans seem to appreciate the younger, more traditional, take on the classic character.

With all that in mind, everyone is hoping Holland’s Spider-Man will last longer than his predecessors. Tobey Maguire starred in three Spider-Man films, while Andrew Garfield starred in just two. The hope is that, since Holland is young and a part of the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe, he will bring some longevity to the role.

According to producer Amy Pascal, the goal is to have him in the role for quite awhile. She stated that this is the best adaptation of Spider-Man to-date, and people will want to see more of it.

“I think we found the right formula and I think everybody is going to want the right thing to continue. And I think that there’s a, as I said there’s a surprisingly generous and cooperative thing and if it works for everybody, then it’s going to work for everybody. The thing isโ€”and I always felt this wayโ€”if you worry about the movie and you worry about the story, all the politics take care of themselves. They just do. Because when the movies work, there’s enough for more than everybody. It’s when you start making the other stuff first that you start to get in trouble.”

While that didn’t exactly answer the question of “how many films will Spider-Man be in”, it still gave fans plenty of hope about the film.

Spider-Man: Homecoming currently enjoys a 4.10 out of 5 on ComicBook.com’s anticipation rankings. You can find the official synopsis below.
