Look out, True Believers! The Prime Minister of Canada might just be a mutant!

Well, not really, but he did stop by to say hi to the cast and crew of X-Men: Dark Phoenix as they begin their production in Montreal this month.
Actor James McAvoy, who has played Professor Charles Xavier in the last three X-Men movies, posted a picture to his Instagram page where he and several cast mates are sharing oysters, drinks, and laughs with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.
Also featured in the picture is director Simon Kinberg, producer Hutch Parker, co-stars Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, as well as Kinberg’s assistant Samantha Ellison, McAvoy’s girlfriend Lisa Liberati, and Smit-McPhee’s girlfriend Becca Phillipou.
With production gearing up in Montreal, it’s not exactly surprising that Trudeau would stop by one of the biggest films currently shooting in his country. Film and television productions have been more frequently taking place in Canada do to tax breaks offered in provinces.

It’s just awesome to see Prime Minister Trudeau hanging out with the X-Men on some downtime. And, as McAvoy noted in his hashtags, in a t-shirt!
Sure, there are probably other ways a leader of a country can more productively spend their time, but we’re not about to fault the guy for taking a photo op with the cast of X-Men. Who knows; maybe he’ll even make a cameo in the new film.
We doubt it, but stranger things have happened.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently filming and is set to release November 2, 2018.
