Marvel Comics created a new Doctor Strange series with the anticipation of a raised profile after the character made his feature film debut.

The publisher put two of their top talents on the book—Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo—with the intention to establish the character as one of the heavy hitters of the Marvel Universe.

Now Doctor Strange has his own line of books, a team-up series with Deadpool, and an increased significance in the publisher’s output. A lot of that comes on the heels of Aaron and Bachalo’s work on the series, along with the coloring from Antonio Fabela, who have guided the character since the series began.

But their run will wrap up with issue #20, a culmination of storylines Aaron and Bachalo have built from issue #1, before the new team enters with issue #21 beginning a tie-in story to Secret Empire.

Dennis Hopeless of All-New X-Men and Jean Grey will take over writing duties, joined by Niko Henrichon of Pride of Baghdad on interior artwork. Bachalo remains the cover artist for the new team for their first issue at least.

The solicit for #20 is slightly confusing, making it seem like this is just the culmination of Aaron and Bachalo’s story arcs thus far, but Marvel has since confirmed this will be the end of their run.

UPDATE: In the wake of the news, Aaron tweeted the following…
