Kurt Russell is one of the newcomers joining the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast. Russell will play Ego, the father of Peter “Star-Lord” Quill (Chris Pratt), but can’t say much more about his character than that.

“It’s a little hard to bite your tongue, but there’s a lot about the character that we want to keep under wraps,” Russell said during an interview on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set. “But the good part is, he’s no letdown.”
While Ego may live up to the hype for fans, he may be more or less than what Star-Lord was expecting from his father.
“He has a great, adventurous spirit that he shares with his son,” Russell explains. “We can all understand how you’d want to meet your dad if you didn’t know who your dad was, and you’d heard these things about your father and you’d been told certain things by your mother, and you’re trying to put it together. I think, when it comes to parents that are missing, we have a tendency to put them on a pedestal. Peter is living in that world, but to finally have the opportunity to meet that person and then begin to compare who you had in mind and what you’re really getting is a lot of what we’re doing.”
