Logan: Deadpool 2 Teaser References Cable, Nixes Reported Cameo

Mild spoilers for Logan follow.

In the U.S., screenings for Logan have just gotten started, and fans can now confirm a pre-film teaser has been added to the feature. The footage focuses on Deadpool 2, and ComicBook has eyes out giving us updates about what the clip entails. Earlier today, reports surfaced that the teaser would see Ryan Reynolds return as Wade Wilson alongside Stan Lee.

However, it seems a few key details were missing from the rumors. And, more importantly, something else was added.

According to ComicBook.com’s Charlie Ridgley, the preview does show Reynolds as Wade Wilson walking past a crime scene. Feeling heroic, the hero then runs to a telephone booth where he tries to change into his Deadpool suit. However, Reynolds struggles to get the blood-red bodysuit on in time while the crime scene behind him gets progressively worse.

It it during the star’s changing montage that fans can see a clever Cable nod. There is graffiti on the telephone booth which teases the mutant’s appearance in Deadpool 2. “Nathan summers cumming soon,” the note reads, nodding to Cable’s given name. Classy, of course.

Ridgley also confirmed the teaser was missing out on a reported element that had been expected. Despite rumors to the contrary, Stan Lee did not appear in the pre-film teaser. The iconic comic book writer had been said to star in the clip where he’d then recognize Reynolds, saying, “Hey, aren’t you Ryan Gosling?”

A relentless pursuit begins … In this third cinematic outing featuring the Marvel comic book character Wolverine we see the superheroes beset by everyday problems. They are ageing, ailing and struggling to survive financially. A decrepit Logan is forced to ask himself if he can or even wants to put his remaining powers to good use. It would appear that in the near-future, the times in which they were able put the world to rights with razor sharp claws and telepathic powers are now over.
