Madame Gao may think there is no place for the Iron Fist in New York, but scores of fans would care to disagree. Thanks to Netflix, the mystical Marvel superhero will soon take to the spotlight in a television series. Marvel’s Iron Fist will follow after praised hits like Daredevil and Luke Cage. And, not long ago, Netflix gifted fans with an extensive look into its exclusive series with a featurette filled with new footage.

Over on Youtube, a new video was uploaded by Netflix titled “I Am Danny.” The clip begins by telling the hero’s origins as a young boy before it transitions to Rand’s return to New York. After being orphaned following a suspicious plane crash, Rand is taught the ways of mystical martial arts in the Lost City before returning home. However, when the hero makes his long-awaited return, he is met with mockery and disbelief from those he once called friends.
As the featurette continues, fans are given an in-depth look at some of Iron Fist‘s early fight scenes and his first meeting with Colleen Wing. And, as the video goes on, fans are teased with Madame Gao’s part in the show as a primary antagonist.
Plus, we get to see more of Rand’s magical Iron Fist powers. If seeing the hero’s glowing fist doesn’t get you psyched, then few things will.

Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
Marvel’s Iron Fist was developed by Scott Buck. The Netflix series stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, a martial arts expert with the ability to call upon the power of the Iron Fist. The cast also includes Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
Iron Fist was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane for Marvel Comics. Iron Fist made his first appearance in Marvel Premiere #15 in 1974. Though he has headlined his own series, he is best known for being Luke Cage’s partner in the Heroes for Hire.
Marvel’s Iron Fist premieres March 17, 2017 exclusively on Netflix.
