Marvel has finally given fans the first shot of the Royal Inhuman family from their new television series, and it seems the show will very much stay close to its comic book roots.
The new image comes courtesy of EW and shows Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus. The Black Bolt, Crystal, and Gorgon looks are especially close to their comic origins, but the other costumes don't stray very far either. You can see the full shot in the gallery.
Director Scott Buck explained how he came onboard the project, and why he took it so soon after Iron Fist. "Actually, it was an exciting proposition. I had just finished Iron Fist and was looking for a little time off. Then, Jeph Loeb called me and pitched the idea of the Inhumans, the idea of doing a show basically about this family. We discussed each one of the characters, who they are, their personalities, their journeys. I always approach these things through the characters — what’s the story we can tell about Black Bolt, about Medusa and each one of these members of the Royal Family? It may have been daunting, but I think I was, more than anything, just excited about jumping in."
Marvel's Inhumans will join Marvel's Agents of SHIELD on ABC, but no word yet on whether these shows will crossover in any way. The photo sports some promise, and it will be interesting to see how Buck and company approach their wildly unique power sets, including Black Bolt's voice and Medusa's hair.
