Many eyes are on Marvel Studios during this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, with many upcoming film and television projects being teased. One of the most highly-anticipated ones, The Punisher, is set to debut later this year, and SDCC audiences just got a sneak peek at the upcoming Netflix series.
While it's unknown if the footage will be released online, ComicBook.com's Charlie Ridgely was on hand at the panel, and provided the following description of what was shown.
"Frank is seen with his child playing guitar. Cut in between with Frank alone, getting angry, sitting against a wall and playing guitar.
Now he drives down a road in Alabama wearing the classic Punisher shirt. He shoots down two men on motorcycles, then runs them over, leaving blood behind him.
In Mexico, a group of men are yelling at a party. Frank's gun is aimed at them from afar. He gets on man in his crosshairs. He fires the shot, there's a long delay, the bullet goes through the man's head. Frank was taking the shot from El Paso, TX.
A rich man enters a bathroom in NY. Frank busts into his stall and beats him up. He begs Punisher by saying that everyone is already dead. He says killing him won't bring Frank's family back. Frank agrees but chokes him to death anyway. Frank zips up his hoodie as he exits the bathroom."
Marvel's The Punisher is being developed by Steve Lightfoot for Netflix. Lightfoot will serve as showrunner.
The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (David Lieberman), Michael Nathanson (Sam Stein), Jaime Ray Newman (Sarah Lieberman), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Paul Schulze (Rawlins), Daniel Webber (Lewis Walcott), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Kobi Frumer (Zach Lieberman), Ripley Sobo (Leo Lieberman), Kelli Barrett (Maria Castle), Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), and Aidan Pierce Brennan (Frank Castle Jr.).
Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1, and Iron Fist season 1 are all available on Netflix now, while The Defenders is expected later in the year. The Punisher does not currently have a release date. Netflix has announced a second season of Jessica Jones and a third season of Daredevil, but no release dates have been announced for those either.
