Marvel Tops Market Share While Batman Tops Individual Sales

Diamond Comic Distributors has released their final tallies for the month of November, and there aren't too many shocks to be had.

DC Comics holds the lead concerning the individual issue top ten with four Batman books charting. Batman #10 takes the top spot, while Batman #11 charts at No. 2, All Star Batman #4 charts at No. 4, and Batman Annual #1 charts at #7. Marvel's Civil War II #7 ranks at #3 with Invincible Iron Man #1 at No. 5, Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #1 at No. 6, Venom #1 at No. 8, and Inhumans vs X-Men #0 rounding out the top ten.

In the big picture scheme of things, Marvel took the top rank with 38% dollar share as opposed to DC Entertainment's 26%, and Marvel's unit share was also significantly higher at 39% compared to DC's 31%. Image, IDW, and Dark Horse round out the top 5.

The big names showed up in the individual issues ranking, but when it came to trades things were a bit more eclectic. Paper Girls Volume 2 took the top spot while Marvel's Hip-Hop Covers Volume 1 took No. 2. DC Super Hero Girls Vol 2 also ranked high at No. 3, with Star Wars: Darth Vader Vol. 4: End of Games coming in at No. 4 and Unbelievable Gwenpool Vol. 1: Believe It at No. 5.

The comics industry as a whole was down from the previous month in dollars (-10.33%) and units (-13.26%), but Graphic Novels (Dollars: 19.48%, Units: 18.91%) and Toys (Dollars: 28.48%, Units: 53.60%) were both up significantly. It is the holiday season, so it makes sense, but it is worth nothing that Toys is down by 9.53% and 12.99% compared to last November.
