There are a lot of patterns to note when looking at the films of the marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s Marvel Studios’ often talked about villain problem. There’s the face that there’s been no female-led solo movie as of yet. There are the familiar structure and the often very similar origin stories.

One pattern that doesn’t get talked about quite as much is Marvel Studios’ tendency to have its lead actors take their shirts off. Moviefone has put together a video compiling “Marvel’s Best Shirtless Moments,” and it shows that this pattern goes all the way back to the very beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the original Iron Man.
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner (and the Hulk), Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth as Thor have all fallen into this pattern. Check out the video above.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe returns in 2017 with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Will the shirtless streak continue (well, beyond Drax, whose always shirtless)?
