In a recent interview with HeyUGuys, Anya Taylor-Joy teased what to expect with the upcoming X-Men film, which recently wrapped production. The actress, who will play Illyana Rasputina/Magik, reassured that New Mutants will break the mold, while still adhering to the significant parts of the characters’ canon.

“Whilst it’s definitely a departure from the X-Men movies, the fans won’t be disappointed.” Taylor-Joy explained. “We definitely kept all the important bits in there.”

Taylor-Joy also praised the film’s director, Josh Boone, and his love for the Marvel Comics source material.

“I think the nicest thing about it is that Josh Boone, our director, he’s just such a fan of the comics.” Taylor-Joy added. “And he really loves them so much that he’s really interested in just making sure that we do the comics justice for the people that love the characters. You know, we all feel so lucky to be such incredibly loved characters.”

Excitement is gradually building for New Mutants, which is being described as ‘a haunted house movie with horny teenagers.’ Alongside Taylor-Joy, the film will star Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Mirage, and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
