There won’t be any spider bites nor Uncle Ben death scenes. No Osborns or Oscrop. No J. Jonah Jameson or Daily Bugle. And no Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane Watson.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will feature a lot of different aspects than most fans are used to, but they’re all rooted in the comic book source material from the character’s storied history in Marvel Comics. One such character will make her big screen debut in the movie as Laura Harrier plays Liz Allan.

โ€จHolland and Harrier spoke about the character as part of Disney Channel’s feature on the movie, “A Fan’s Guide To Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Check out the clip above!

“Peter’s love interest in this movie is Liz,” Holland said in the video. “He’s madly in love with her. She’s the best looking girl in the school. He doesn’t think he can win her over just being himself.”

“She is really driven and smart,” Harrier said of her character. “She’s a senior, so she’s a bit older. Everyone else is a sophomore, so she’s kinda like the wise, popular girl in school.”

Both of the actors expressed admiration for each other, with Harrier saying they became really good friends while shooting the film. But on screen, Peter Parker might have a struggle with trying to maintain the relationship.

“If you say ‘I’m Spider-Man,’ you can get any girl in the world, you know, because you’re a superhero,” Holland said. “And it’s quite interesting to play those scenes knowing that you as a character have that golden ticket but you can’t play it.”

We’ll learn if that ole’ Parker luck affects his romantic life when Spider-Man: Homecoming premieres in theaters July 7.
