Zendaya Confirms She’s Not Dating Tom Holland

Sony Pictures has produced a fair share of Spider-Man films, and the reboots wound up birthing a slew of all-star couples. Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man run saw Tobey McGuire cozy up to Kirsten Dunst while The Amazing Spider-Man franchise paired Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone together. However, if you hoped Spider-Man: Homecoming would do the same to its leads, then think again.

Earlier this summer, reports surfaced that Zendaya and Tom Holland were dating, but the former is outright denying those claims. The actress spoke to Variety for its Power of Young Hollywood special, and Zendaya said the two are “just friends.”

The star was asked directly if she and Holland were significant others, and Zendaya responded with a resounding “no.”

“He’s a great dude. He’s literally one of my best friends,” the actress explained. “This past how many months we’ve had to do press tours together. There’s very few people that will understand what that’s like at 20-years-old.”

Holland has yet to respond to the claims officially, but the pair did react to the dating rumors online shortly after they surfaced. Zendaya was the first to respond on Twitter as she wrote, “Wait wait…my favorite is when it says we go on vacations together HA! I haven’t been on a vacation in years!” as she nodded to details about her alleged romance.

Holland responded not long after, writing, “Does the press tour count,” before Zendaya announced she was “done” with the story.

If you missed the dating situation earlier this year, you don’t have too much to brush up on. People pushed an article that claimed the Spider-Man: Homecoming stars were more than just co-workers. An anonymous source told the magazine, “They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man.”

“They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”

For now, it looks like love hasn’t stricken two of Hollywood’s most talented stars, but fans are still wondering what if. The Marvel actors are two which fans continue to ship together, so the couple will exist even if it is only in fan-fiction.
