When Spider-Man: Homecoming hits the big screen this July, we know that Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Peter Parker, everybody's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. We also know that Oscar-nominated actor Michael Keaton is playing the classic Spidey villain Adrian Toomes/Vulture while Jacob Batalon is playing Ned, a character that looks all too familiar to Miles Morales' best friend Ganke, from the Marvel Comicsverse.

The biggest question mark still on the board revolves around the character that actress Zendaya is playing. Currently billed at "Michelle," many fans theories have stated that she might end up playing Peter's primary love interest Mary Jane Watson.

According to the former Disney star, that's simply not the case.

"My character is 100 percent Michelle," Zendaya told MTV. "That's her name. I promise you I'm not lying."

Describing her character as a teenager with a dry and awkward sense of humor, Zendaya feels the character could be her true calling.

"She's like my spirit animal," she reflected. "She's how I feel on the inside."
