Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be an important moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the film seems to be swinging for the fences with its scope and cast. Marvel Studios previously revealed a glimpse at the sizable cast during its now-famous studio chair rollout, but there were plenty of names not included in that reveal, including a certain Merc with a Mouth by the name of Deadpool. Recently, there have been conflicting rumors regarding Deadpool being a part of Doomsday, and now one of his co-stars has addressed his involvement.

The last time we saw Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson was in 2024’s massive hit Deadpool & Wolverine, which also featured the debut of Channing Tatum as Gambit. Tatum was asked about those Deadpool Avengers: Doomsday rumors in an interview with Variety (via ComicBookMovie), and he doesn’t see it happening at the moment, just due to Reynolds’ insane schedule, saying, “I think he’s busy enough. He’s got like 15,000 jobs.”
Is He Really Not In It Though?
There have been reports that Reynolds will reprise the role of Deadpool in Doomsday, though Reynolds recently addressed those rumors, revealing he hadn’t set foot on the set. Now, movie involvement denials have become sort of muddied thanks to any number of those denials not ultimately being true, especially in regards to Andrew Garfield’s tour of denials before appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, so you can’t blame fans for thinking it might still happen when all is said and done.
That said, Tatum has been announced for the cast of Doomsday, which is a fever dream scenario for many, as Tatum’s Gambit movie felt like something relegated to the great what-ifs in movie history. Thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, Tatum finally got to step into Gambit’s shoes on the big screen, and to say he’s grateful to Reynolds for helping that happen is an understatement. Tatum said, “My buddy Ryan, I’ll be forever [grateful]. If his kids ever needed a kidney, I’d give it. He takes care of his people, and I’ll always be there for him.”
Thankfully, we’ll get to see Tatum in Doomsday, and while he’s obviously keeping much of his experience in the movie close to the vest, he did tease the film’s epic size and scope. “When I say a huge movie, it’s like an understatement. I don’t have a word big enough,” Tatum said. “I’m not good enough with words to explain how big this movie will be. It’s going to blow people’s minds.”
An Epic Cast
Even if Reynolds doesn’t reprise the Deadpool role, Doomsday already has an insanely stacked cast. So far the confirmed cast for Avengers: Doomsday includes Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Winston Duke (M’Baku), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Lewis Pullman (Bob/Sentry), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Danny Ramirez (Falcon), Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Thing).
One of the biggest reveals regarding the cast was the inclusion of characters from 20th Century Fox’s marvel universe, and there will be several making the jump, including Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier) Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammar (Beast), James Marsden (Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebeca Romijn (Mystique), and and Tatum’s Gambit. It will be interesting to see if any other characters are also in the mix, including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, but guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
